The beginner's beekeeping course is designed to prepare new beekeepers and enthusiasts with the skills needed to start and maintain their hives in the first year.
Topics include:
- Selecting your apiary location
- Beekeeping Equipment and tools
- Installing your nucleus colony
- Honeybee nutrition
- Honeybee Health
- and more!
We will have presentations from seasoned beekeepers from the community.
The class does fill up fast!
We encourage you to sign up early and reserve your spot.
Class investment is $55 per person. Non refundable on cancellations. Yes you may transfer it to someone else if you cannot make it. *You must call us or email us to notify us you are transferring it to someone else if you cannot attend.
We request that you sign up by April 19th. We do head count for food preparations, coffee, and snacks.
Day of class expectations:
- Arrive early, by 8:30am to refill your coffee cup
- Park in the back of the facility to free up space in front parking for customers
- Class starts immediately at 9am
- Bring your beekeeping suit, gloves, hive tool, and smoker for the lab portion
- Bring a notebook, pen, and a lawn chair
- Lunch and Q & A breaks out at 12pm (30mins approximately)
*If you do not have a bee suit, no problem, arrive early and try one on! We sell protective equipment.
*You are encouraged to purchase your hive kits prior to class and start working on these. Also order your bees! These are $200 for a nucleus colony!
